FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I join if I am not from Europe?
Yes, of course! The Practice Marathon is an online event. You’re good to go as long as you have an internet connection.
When does the Practice Marathon take place?
We will practice from Saturday the 4th of September to Sunday the 5th of September. We start at noon 12:01PM Eastern Time on Saturday and end at 4:00 PM on Sunday. You are expected to practice between live sessions to prepare for our next session. Feel free to send an email to support@violinspiration.com to get help with figuring out what times the events take place in your timezone.
Should I practice for 28 hours straight!?
No! Of course will take breaks to rest and sleep. However, you do need enough time during the weekend in order to join. I expect you to practice at least 4-6 hours every day, both to prepare for the classes and during classes. If you want, you can practice more, but you do not have to.
How many hours is the minimum participation to get value from this?
Even though you could technically rewatch every live session, you will get most out of this practice marathon if you can make it to the live sessions. This means that 4-5 Focused hours across the 2 days is the minimum amount of time you need in order to get most out of our practice marathon. If possible, schedule more time for extra practice in between the sessions.
What times do the Zoom classes take place?
Our classes take place at the following times:
- Saturday 12:01 PM EST (New York)
- Saturday 2:00 PM EST
- Sunday 12:01 PM EST (New York)
- Sunday 2:30 PM EST
Every class takes between 60 and 90 minutes.
What happens if I can not make it to one of the live sessions?
Recordings are made available for participants who can not make it to any of the classes live. The recordings are shared over a private Vimeo link and sent out to participants one day after each event took place to rewatch.
What if I have any questions or problems during this Practice Marathon?
I will open a private Facebook group during the Practice Marathon so all participants can stay in contact during our weekend of practice. In this group, I am available for all questions about Eine Kleine Nachtmusik during the entire weekend. Feel free to ask for as much help as you need in order to learn the piece beautifully!
I already have a violin teacher. Does this interfere?
If your violin teacher is anything like me, they will LOVE your commitment to do an entire weekend of practice! Our practice marathon will help you to not only learn new techniques but to get motivated to practice your violin intensely during an entire weekend. This will not only help you to learn the piece we are working on, but will also benefit you when learning other pieces during your private lessons. Most likely, your violin teacher will be pleased to see the new skills you picked up during your Practice Marathon.
