Amor Eterno violin sheet music and tutorials for beginners and intermediate level players.
Amor Eterno is a beautiful melody that I love to slow down and listen to. Plus, it sounds lovely on the violin!
Written by Juan Gabriel, this piece is known for its warm, singing lines and emotional depth. The melody feels very vocal, which is why it sounds so natural on the violin.
In this post, you’ll find easy tutorials to get you started step by step, an intermediate version to add more expression, and free sheet music and extras to support your practice.
Take your time learning this song. Focus on how each note connects to the next, and let the melody guide your sound. Let’s dive in!

Amor Eterno Violin Tutorial
Amor Eterno was written by Mexican songwriter Juan Gabriel, and it’s one of the most well-known Spanish-language songs. It’s often performed as a tribute at memorials to loved ones who’ve passed away.
The slow melody is beautiful and alluring, and translates so naturally to the violin. Practicing this song will give you lots of opportunities to work on phrasing and vibrato!

Practice Tips
Before you dive in, here are a few pointers to get started on Amor Eterno.
Key Signature: G Major
It’s always smart to warm up in the same key as the piece you’re working on, and both arrangements are in the key of G Major. Download the free scale warmup sheet to practice smarter, not harder!

Use strategic fingerings for smooth string crossings
You’ll see a few finger numbers in both arrangements that might not make sense at first: a 2nd finger for C natural on the A string and a 3rd finger for F sharp on the D string.
Although we usually play both of these notes with the second finger, C natural uses a low 2 and F sharp uses a high 2. If we go from one to the other using the same finger, we’ll hear an interruption in the sound. Sometimes it’ll even sound scratchy going from one note to the next.

To avoid this, we use a low 2nd finger for C natural on the A string, and a low 3rd finger for F sharp on the D string. We can place the low 3rd finger on the string before the bow gets there, meaning we can smoothly go from C to F sharp without any interruptions.
